What you will do in your working day

• Supporting delivery of projects by providing commercial and procurement support to project managers.
• Tendering, awarding and monitoring low value, low risk contracts supporting construction project delivery.
• Explaining commercial guidance and providing commercial advice to support a range of internal customers
• Keeping up to date on changing legislation / best practice internally
• Supporting and maintaining effective customer and supplier relationships

The training you will be getting

The apprenticeship covers elements of business, economics and cost management. You will learn on the job and via online learning and face to face workshops. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will give you the skills and practical experiences needed to obtain a L4 Diploma in Procurement & Supply with the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Completion of the apprenticeship makes you eligible for professional membership of the CIPS.

You will continue to support the Commercial team providing commercial and procurement support and advice on high value complex programmes - primarily in construction and civil engineering, and supporting the Environment Agency. In parallel we will support you to continue your development and career progression within Defra and the wider civil service.
