The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites, from layout to function and according to a client's specifications. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.
  • Writing code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as WordPress, HTML, CSS,PHP and My-SQL
  • Deciding on the best technologies and languages for the project
  • Testing sites and applications in different browsers and environments
  • Problem solving
  • Fixing bugs in existing projects
  • Testing new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases
  • Running performance benchmarking tests
  • Building and testing Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for applications to exchange data
  • Collaboratively work with designers, developers and project staff for progress updates
  • Gathering requirements from clients and users
  • Staying up to date with new trends and advancements in web development
  • Building and maintaining databases
  • Refactoring and optimising existing code
  • Support with the roll out of Globalised sites
  • Editing and Fixing code for clients

Desired qualifications

Candidates should have completed either a Level 3 IT qualification and/or apprenticeship programme and/or be working in an IT environment with some requirement for independent working. The candidate should have good GCSE grades (A*-C/9-4) or equivalent.

Future prospects

A permanent position will be considered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

The training for this apprenticeship will be delivered in Birmingham City Centre (close to Snow Hill Station).

Salary: £3.90 per hour (Flexible and negotiable depending on previous skills and experience) Bonus and incentives are also available as part of the package.
