Duties will include:
  • Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager to whom you will provide support with daily tasks on aspects of bids, project initiation and design and project management of live projects and portfolios
  • You will work face to face with project delivery teams to assist with the delivery of projects on time, to budget and to the agreed level of quality whilst managing scope change and gain an understanding of how risks are identified and managed appropriately. You will also be involved with preparations of WYG bid and appointment documentation

Further duties include:
  • Assist in creating regular, accurate, consolidated reports and forecasts for the business unit on finance, operational performance, capability and capacity and compliance with the policies and procedures
  • Support and motivate internal staff at various levels and external consultants on projects to establish their full commercial contribution to the organisation
  • Support projects to determine the required project team capacity, capability and competency of staff for the project(s)
  • Organise and partake in project review meetings ensuring project plans are in place and kept updated
  • Propose and assist in resources programmes for projects as well as coordinated design programmes
  • You will have a passion for project management in engineering/construction


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

You will be capable in using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc) with training provided, if required, for project management software such as MS Project. You will be a strong communicator who can work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Desired qualifications

  • Ideally the successful applicant will possess a Degree qualification (No preference as to which area of study this is in as long as it is not Project management)
  • Ideally a minimum of A- level qualifications
  • It would be advantageous to have previous industry experience


Future prospects

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship there may be opportunity for further education or a permanent role within the business.

Things to consider

  • Before you make your application, please ensure that you are able to reliably travel to and from the employer location on a daily basis
  • The role will involve travel to other offices on an ad hoc basis. (So ideally will need to be able to drive)
  • Apprenticeship will take approximately 22 months to complete
