As a Apprentice Chartered Accountant, you will have exposure to all aspects of pubic practice. The role is incredibly varied. No two days are the same.

The role will include, but not be limited to, office based client compliance work across accountancy, tax and bookkeeping including preparation of
  • Spreadsheets
  • Bank reconciliations
  • VAT Returns
  • Property accounts, sole trader accounts and company accounts
  • Tax Returns for individuals and companies.

In addition, the role will develop into providing critical practice administration and management support including meeting and greeting clients, preparing engagement letters, preparing work in progress reports for billing purposes, and maintaining our digital capture of client and practice files.

You will receive continuous one to one partner-level mentoring, support and shadowing including sitting in on client meetings being both compliance and advisory/consultancy in nature.

In-house and client facing ad hoc assignments materialise on a daily basis and in time the successful candidate will be able to take on these tasks as a key player in our team.

You will also have exposure to understanding property management as many of our clients have UK property. This will include, but not be limited to, developing an understanding of the complete cycle of a residential tenancy and accounting for service charges.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • You must be numerate.
  • You must have a strong sense of commercial awareness, good organisational and time management skills and able to work under pressure with accuracy and focus.
  • It is essential you can demonstrate IT literacy, including competent use of Excel Word and Outlook.
  • You will be required to record your time to a detailed standard.


Personal qualities

  • Enthusiastic, ambitious, loyal and acting with integrity at all times.
  • A high standard of communication and attention to detail will be required as the role will involve a good deal of interaction with clients.
  • A good telephone manner is essential.
  • Able to fit in and work with our very small team.


Desired qualifications

You must have:
  • A Degree: 2:2 and above.
  • GCSE maths and English grade A to C 9-4
  • At least two A-levels grade A-C, achieved in one sitting.
