About us
Mole Valley lies at the heart of Surrey. The towns of Dorking and Leatherhead are the District’s main centres. The M25, A24 and A25 are within easy reach.

Our purpose built open-plan offices in Dorking have recently been refurbished. We are located opposite the Sports Centre which offers a 6 lane 25m swimming pool, sports hall, gym, aerobics studio and café and Dorking Halls, which provides a range of facilities including a café, cinema, theatre and concerts.

About the Communications Apprentice Role
This is an exciting and varied role working with the Communications Team at Mole Valley District Council.

Whilst work will initially involve basic administration and office tasks, for the right motivated and energetic candidate it will evolve into taking on projects across the organisation, whilst receiving excellent guidance, training, mentoring and support.

There are opportunities for running a selection of our social media channels, working on content for our intranet and main website, alongside a variety of projects new projects with varied content, budgets and target audiences.
In the Communications Team we pride ourselves on our innovative approaches and creative use of traditional and social media to run proactive campaigns to promote the work of Mole Valley District Council.

We run consultations and events across the district and are involved with extensive partnership work. We work with every service within Mole Valley, run multiple websites and social media sites, work with our Councillors, with residents and manage the communications and marketing for Dorking Halls.

This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join us, gaining experience in Communications and Marketing campaigns, extensive social media work, website writing and forward planning.

This role involves provides support for all of our activities and gives a useful insight into the role local government. The right candidate will seize this opportunity and use it as a platform to develop and learn new skills, ready to take the next step in their career.

Our Apprentices are employed on a 18 month fixed term period, giving plenty of time to complete the agreed qualification and gain significant work experience. At the end of this period if there isn’t a role available within the department or our Council, we will support and network with our neighbouring Councils to try and find you a permanent role.

About You
We need someone who has the energy and enthusiasm to get to grips with the varied needs of the team and can cope with busy days and meeting deadlines.
Adaptable and flexible, we seek someone friendly, with good social skills who is happy to go out and about, take photos and video in the local area and get involved in every aspect of what we do.

Skilled in using computers, you will bring a mature outlook and a desire to do well.

You will gain solid corporate communication and engagement experience and develop the ability to communicate at all levels.

You will need three GCSE’s grade 4-9 / A to C, or equivalent including Maths and English to apply.
