Dartford Borough Council comprises of the town of Dartford and eight surrounding parishes.
The population of the Borough is 93,600 residents and approximately 40,309 households, which is increasing due to the new builds being built in the Borough, to which it provides services including Planning/Building Control, Parking, Council Tax and Housing Benefits, Environmental Health, Refuse/Recycling, Parks and Housing.

Dartford is at the heart of one of the Government’s key growth zones within the Thames Gateway and will continue to see around 20,000 new homes and up to 50,000 new jobs created in the borough over the next 25 years – a substantial addition to the existing 90,000+ residents in the Borough.


Description of Vacancy
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Dartford Borough Council for a Customer Service Apprentice. This role is to provide outstanding Customer Service for the council’s internal and external customers. You will be the Councils first point of contact for face to face, telephone and email enquiries for many of our key services and be given an excellent opportunity to develop existing customer service skills. Applications are welcome from those that have the desire to deliver an outstanding customer experience and would like to work and study for an apprenticeship within this organisation.

As a Customer Advisor Apprentice, you will be given all the necessary training, support and first-hand experience required to complete your NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services.

Your duties will include covering Reception, scanning & indexing documents and responding to basic telephone enquiries.

£3.90 per hour
£144.30 per week


Hours
Monday to Thursday 8.45 – 17.15
Friday 8.45 – 16.45
Unpaid 1 hr lunch break


Skills Required
Have good communication skills, be able to listen, show empathy, patience and consistency 
Ability to follow clear instructions and procedures 
Ability to work as part of a team 
Ability to adapt approach to meet differing and diverse customer needs 
Basic IT Skills


Personal Qualities 
Enthusiasm to learn new skills 
A flexible and positive attitude


Qualifications Required
Minimum achieved Grade D or equivalent in English and Maths.


Training Provided
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
