The Post

Working within the IT team based in the Head Office in Romford the postholder will assist in maintaining highly available IT systems to support Breyer Group's business objectives. General duties will include setting up the IT and communications for new joiners, installing PC's and printers, running and monitoring data backups, and assisting users with general IT related issues.


In order to work effectively in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post holder. This may be that other tasks are undertaken and/or location of base may change. These will be within the same level of responsibility and terms and conditions of employment.

Main Responsibilities

Support the IT team in it's daily duties

Build, configure and install workstations on the network

Install and upgrade software

Take and resolve helpdesk calls

Setting up user accounts and maintaining user base

Assisting, maintenance and control of backups

To set up and install new telephones

To carry out any other duties deemed necessary to support Breyer Group objectives

General duties

To liaise with relevant staff as required.

To maintain confidentiality regarding client information at all times.

As required, to attend training sessions, conferences and staff meetings in line with our commitment to Investors in People.

To be self servicing in the area of IT functions.

To be flexible with regard to working hours where requested (occasional evening and weekend work will be necessary).

To liaise with relevant staff and outside authorities/agencies as requested.

To adhere to Breyer Group's health and safety policy.

To adhere to Breyer Group's Environmental Standards and accreditations.

Other Responsibilities

Other responsibilities for this particular post contribute to the successful delivery of the full range of functions of the IT team. These are to be carried out in the absence of and alongside members of the administration team.

Person Specification

The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:

Knowledge and Skills

1. Knowledge of IT hardware and maintenance

2. Experience with Microsoft Office products

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, telephone skills and interpersonal skills.

4. The ability to work alone on set projects.

Personal attributes and skills

1. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.

2. Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritise own workload, deal with conflicting demands and meet tight deadlines.

3. Ability to show tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone skills and interpersonal skills.

1. Experience of working in the construction industry

2. Educated to A level or NVQ Qualification in IT or equivalent.

3. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server

4. Experience of LAN's, WAN's and Juniper firewalls

5. Experience using Windows 2003 to 2012 Server and Exchange 2010 Server
