This role is a great opportunity to contribute towards the priorities and goals of Transport for West Midlands. You'll work to deliver projects around four areas. Each placement will offer unique projects to support on and the opportunity to develop and demonstrate your project management skills as part of the apprenticeship. The four placements are:

1.Demand Management - The ADEPT SMART Places Live Labs Programme is a two-year, £22.9m project funded by the Department for Transport that will run until Spring 2021. The advances made in digital technology have transformed how we live and work and will continue to have far-reaching impacts for some time to come. One of just eight projects nationally, the Network Resilience Live Lab will explore how applying innovative data analytics along key roads in the West Midlands can help to reduce congestion.

The West Midlands Regional Transport Coordination Centre (RTCC) will be a multi-modal, multi-agency facility providing regional coordination of transport networks and services to help Local Authorities, Emergency Services, transport agencies and operators, to provide more reliable, resilient and integrated transport services to residents, businesses and visitors.

In this role you will support in the creation of projects linked to the ADEPT Live Lab and the RTCC. You will directly support the Head of Demand Management and RTCC Project Manager to help minimise the impact of disruption across the transport system.

2.Cycling and Walking - The Cycling Charter Action Plan outlines the key activities that will be undertaken to achieve the target of increasing cycling levels in the West Midlands to 5% of all trips by 2023. In addition, we aim to get more people walking, including increasing the number of children walking to school.

The Walking and Cycling programme have received £23 million in investment to improve access to cycling and walking across the region. You will help support the delivery of this programme to the people of the West Midlands. You'll support the Project Manager and the wider team to set up and maintain risk registers, as well as help to create and update a schedule and resource management plan. You'll also engage stakeholders, from Local Authorities to charities and partners like Living Streets.

3.Metro - The West Midlands Metro expansion programme is set to transform the region - delivering a truly integrated transport system for the future. The Midlands Metro team are delivering a £1.3 billion investment plan to significantly expand the tram network across the West Midlands, bringing even greater connectivity to people, places and business. The Network will expand to over 80 stops, connecting Birmingham, Dudley, Solihull, Wolverhampton and HS2 links.

Your role will be supporting a Project Sponsor on one of the Metro expansion lines. You will provide project management support across the project, as well as be involved in other smaller projects to help the delivery of Metro services.
