Main responsibilities of the role
Reporting to the lead HR analyst, the main responsibilities of this role are set out below. The team works flexibly so you will be expected to take on a variety of different tasks that support the team including:
  • Delivering the department's formal HR data submissions to ONS and Cabinet Office (primarily using Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel). The role will be responsible for driving data quality in DCMS management information; ensuring that the information that the Department produces is accurate, consistent and in line with centrally mandated standards. This will involve maintaining and developing systems to collate, quality assure and analyse HR data
  • Leading on diversity analysis within the department including calculating the department's Gender Pay Gap and using data visualisation tools to present this information. This will involve working closely with stakeholders across the department including the Central Analysis Team and various diversity working groups and networks
  • Modelling pay scenarios for the department. This will involve working closely with the pay and reward team (where the role itself is embedded) to define and model various pay scenarios. This requires creative and critical thinking to quickly and accurately communicate the implications of these scenarios
  • Carrying out bespoke analytical projects to improve the HR function in the Department. This could include sentiment analysis and text mining, and advanced statistical techniques
  • Making Effective Decisions: Take responsibility for making effective and fair decisions, in a timely manner. Analyse and research further information to support decisions. Talk to relevant people to get advice and information when unsure how to proceed. Explain how decisions have been reached in a clear and concise way, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate the consideration of all options, costs, risks and wider implications, including the diverse needs of end users and any accessibility requirements
  • Changing and Improving: Regularly review own and team's work and take the initiative to suggest ideas to make improvements. Give feedback on changes in a constructive manner. Take a positive, open approach to the possibility of change and encourage others to do the same. Help others to understand changes and the reasons they are being put in place. Identify and act on the effects changes are having on your role and that of the team. Look for ways to use technology to achieve efficient and effective results

Desired qualifications
