Start Date
Duties will include:
  • Posting regular informative, up-to-date and engaging content on the Council's website and social media platforms
  • Develop new and innovative ways of using social media channels to promote Council campaigns, events and our strategic priorities, engaging with the public and our stakeholders
  • Use and report on analytics to be able to evaluate the use of social media
  • Support the development and production of social media content such as video, photography and animation
  • Stay up-to-date with social media and other digital developments
  • Work with colleagues to plan and deliver events
  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with partners on joint campaign initiatives
  • Design and produce a range of documents, such as posters and newsletters
  • Liaise with graphic designers on more specialist design work
  • Ensure that work produced is consistent with agreed branding guidelines where appropriate and does not breach copyright rules
  • Produce and agree communication plans that meet client deadlines and specifications
  • Take photographs suitable for accompanying press releases or other communications
  • Work closely with ICT colleagues to support the design and content of the Council's website and applications
  • Other tasks appropriate to the role or to support the achievement of degree qualification

Desired skills

  • Able to use IT systems including Word and Outlook
  • Able to use MacBook; familiar with Apple products
  • Able to use design tools/applications to produce graphics
  • Competent in digital photography, able to demonstrate examples of work
  • Able to treat information confidentially and securely
  • Punctual and reliable with an excellent record of attendance at work or school
  • Able to work accurately with strong attention to detail

Personal qualities

  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Good interpersonal skills and confident dealing with colleagues and managers
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work effectively and exercise sound judgment under pressure, and meet tight deadlines

Desired qualifications

5 A-C GCSE's (or equivalent) including English and Maths as well as one of the following:
  • 112 points at A2 - General Studies accepted
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: Distinction, Merit, Merit
  • BTEC Diploma: Distinction*Distinction*
  • Pass Access To HE with 30 Level 3 Credits at Distinction
  • International Baccalaureate: 28P
  • IELTS: 6.0 with no sub-score lower than 5.5
