Manufacturing Engineering Degree Apprenticeship
MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP
Turn designs into reality across civil and defence aerospace and nuclear.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Enthusiasm for manufacturing engineering
- Analytical and motivated
- Team skills
Beyond your academic qualifications, we'll be looking for evidence that you're genuinely enthusiastic about developing a career in manufacturing engineering. For example, we’d like to hear about an engineering project you've done at school, or any club you've been involved with. Whatever it is, we want to know you've thought things through and are sure that this career is right for you.
You'll be analytical, methodical and good at solving problems, as well as articulate, driven and a fast learner. We'll also ask you to tell us about times where you’ve shown motivation outside of school or college – for example in playing sports or musical instruments, learning languages, organising a significant event or taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Our company is large and to be effective, we all have to work together well. We'll be interested in how you've worked well in a group. That could be at school, with your family, in a sports team, at work, in voluntary organisations, such as the Guides, Scouts or Cadets, or as part of religious or community activities.
WHAT YOU COULD BE DOING:
Our Manufacturing Engineers develop some of the most advanced manufacturing processes in the world, across aerospace, marine and nuclear technology. Turning designs into reality involves working with technical experts, customers, suppliers and operations specialists in every part of our business, in every part of the world. It’s a big job – a job to be proud of.
Throughout your four year Degree Apprenticeship, you’ll work with engineers who are amongst the best in their field. From them, and from your taught coursework, you’ll gain solid foundation knowledge of engineering.
After initial foundation training which will give you a broad appreciation of engineering principles, you’ll embark on a series of mentored placements. This will ensure you gain both the breadth and depth of experience you need to make a real difference to our business.
These placements will give you far-reaching practical knowledge in areas as varied as introducing new products or controlling change to existing manufacturing processes, acquiring new technology and problem solving.
We open for applications: 4th October 2017 – 2nd March 2018.
We assess candidates throughout the year, so you may find there is some time between submitting an application and your assessment centre. These will be run between November 2017 and March 2018.
