About us
We cover a variety of different functions within our team: we provide support to elected Members and the Council’s decision making processes, we run all types of elections and referenda as well as providing the Council’s electoral registration services and we oversee Mole Valley’s emergency planning and business continuity functions. Additionally, the team runs the council’s corporate print and postal services.

There will never be a dull moment working in our team and being flexible and supporting each other is vital to our successful way of working.

We are an energetic and dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation and we all enjoy supporting our elected Councillors, local communities and colleagues.

About the role / About the team
The primary focus of the role is to support the organisation wide distribution of post and courier services. This will include collating and distributing the morning post throughout the main office in Dorking, taking post to and collecting post from our satellite sites in Dorking and Leatherhead, and collecting and collating all the Council’s post ready for Royal Mail to collect at the end of the working day.

The post holder will also provide cover for the print room function when required.

As an integral member of the Democratic and Electoral Services Team, you will also provide effective and efficient administration support across the range of services we deliver. This could include data processing for Electoral Services, updating the service pages on the Council’s website and Members Extranet and a range of other duties to help give you a well-rounded overview of the services we deliver.

This role gives a useful insight into the workings of local government. The right candidate will seize this opportunity and use it as a platform to develop and learn new skills, ready to take the next step in their career, whilst receiving excellent guidance, training, mentoring and support.

Our Apprentices are employed on a 18 month fixed term period, giving plenty of time to complete the agreed qualification and gain significant work experience. At the end of this period if there isn’t a role available within the department or our Council, we will support and network with our neighbouring Councils to try and find you a permanent role.

About you
We need someone who has the energy and enthusiasm to get to grips with the varied needs of the team and can cope with busy days and meeting deadlines.

Adaptable, flexible and a willingness to get involved in every aspect of what we do.
