Key skills for this role will include team working, influencing, leadership, a focus on delivery and after appropriate training and mentoring take accountability for technical decision making.
Personal qualitiesYou'll need to be able to lead your own technical project and work with expert mentors to develop the skills to complete it. Your role will see you selecting the optimal NDT method and conducting tests on parts - so be ready for project planning, control of resources, problem solving, quality assurance and gaining technical know-how.
You'll also learn how we use NDT in research and development, and have the opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art technologies that enable us to find smaller sized defects, increase our throughput and reduce or costs.
Our Apprenticeships involve a fair amount of academic work. For that reason, we'll need you to have already achieved a certain level in your education:
We look for two A-Levels in Maths and either Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, or any other equivalent Engineering related technical qualification at grade C or above. You'll also need at least five GCSE/Standard grades at grade A-B (4) which must include Maths, English Language and Science.

Things to consider What next? There are four stages on your journey to becoming an apprentice with us. 1. APPLICATION Once you've decided which programme is for you, you'll need to find an appropriate vacancy and apply online in 'search and apply'. Remember, you can only apply for one role each cycle, so make sure it's the right one for you. You will need to write two statements telling us why you are applying for this apprenticeship, why you want to work for Rolls-Royce and why you are the best person for the job. Think about how you can show passion for your chosen career, mention any relevant projects that you have worked on or hobbies, interests and extracurricular activities that demonstrate why you are great match for this apprenticeship. Remember, do your company research. Know what we make, who we work with and the markets we work in (e.g. we don't make cars anymore!) 2. ONLINE ASSESSMENTS Immediately after submitting your application you will receive two emails - one to acknowledge this has been received, and; - a second inviting you to take our online assessments. You'll need to complete the assessments provided within ten days for your application to be considered. COME TO OUR ASSESSMENT CENTRE If your application is successful, you'll be invited to our assessment centre. The day consists of: • Innovation and Motivation Exercise: provides an opportunity for you to understand more about our vision for the future, including the importance of finding the next generation of graduates and apprentices. You'll have the opportunity to demonstrate your motivation for applying to us and enthusiasm for our business. • Technical interview: we'd like to gain an understanding of how well you are able to learn and understand information that relates to our business. We're also interested in your understanding of Rolls-Royce and the different sectors in which we operate. • Group exercise: we'll ask you to participate in a group activity that will allow us to observe how you work with others in a team environment. 4. STARTING AT ROLLS-ROYCE If your application is successful, we'll be in touch with the good news. Once you accept a role, we'll make joining us as easy as possible.
