As the Apprentice you will assist our team with day to day administrative duties to ensure an efficient, professional service is provided to all departments and services across the Council.

You will be involved in a range of activities such as:
  • Enter, update or retrieve purchasing and contract information accurately on paper and through electronic records
  • General administration across the team including scanning and filing confidential documents, dealing with general queries via the telephone and email
  • Attend Procurement related meetings and events to ensure accurate notes are produced
  • Researching, analysing and presenting data
  • Building good working relationships with a range of suppliers and other organisations to obtain best value for the Council

You will be allocated work appropriate to your experience and there will be guidance and coaching available.

Desired qualifications

Good general education with 5 GCSEs or equivalents, grades A-C or grade 4 to 9 including maths, English and ICT or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through experience. IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, hardworking entry level apprentice to join the Council and forge a career in this sector.

From the first day you will undertake meaningful, value adding work which will assist the whole team and give you an overview of the entire area of work. This will be an 18-month opportunity commencing in January 2020.

Subject to satisfactory performance, at the end of the placement the apprentice would be encouraged to apply for any suitable vacancies at the Council.

We may also ask suitable people to join the Council's list of casual workers available for temporary work on an 'as and when required'basis. This will provide further work experience.
