As part of the team within naval ships you will have the opportunity to work on some of the largest engineering projects in the UK. We have teams working on the Royal Navy's two new Aircraft Carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Prince of Wales, which will be the backbone of the UK fleet for decades to come. We also recently delivered the advanced Type 45 Destroyers and our work is already underway on the Type 26 Global Combat Ship. Your time with us as a Naval Architect will be structured to give you the maximum benefit, working on varied projects from concept design and development, conducting feasibility studies, detailed production and beyond to in-service support.

What you will be doing
Naval architecture is a whole boat engineering discipline. This means as a naval architect you'll not only be involved in the design of the vessels, but also all aspects of manufacture right through to launch, test and commission. In the case of our businesses, you'll work to ensure that our surface ships and submarines do what they should do. A large part of the work involves computer based design. However, you will also get extensively involved in other activities too - such as computer simulation modelling and physical model tank testing.
Security / export control statement
Please be aware that many roles working for BAE Systems will be subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and/or your place of birth may limit those roles that you can perform for the organisation.
Diversity and inclusion statement
We are an inclusive employer. Recruiting, retaining and inspiring the best people from the widest pool is vitally important to us. We encourage and welcome applications from all sections of society and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments and/or additional arrangements you may need to support your application.
If you want to be part of our future working in partnership with the Royal Navy, then a career in Maritime Services awaits you.
