Future prospects Apprentices will work towards becoming 'skilled' in their respective trade on completion of their apprenticeship. Post apprenticeship there are possibilities to progress through the grading structure and adopt additional responsibilities. The organisation has a long history of training apprentices, and also evidence of progression of apprentices post completion of their schemes into senior and critical roles. Apprentices have gone on to reach the highest levels in the Company - to management level and beyond! Things to consider Degree apprentices will have regular access to helicopters and the manufacturing facilities, but spend the majority of their time in an office environment. Degree apprentices, will usually wear 'office attire', only wearing lab coats or overalls when taking part in testing activities (testing aircraft parts and systems.) Apprentices are assigned to a skilled supervisor, who will teach, guide and support the apprentice in their workplace to develop the required skills. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £7.05 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £7.50 for those over 25. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). For more information visit:
