An exciting opportunity to work within a forward thinking accountancy practice supporting our growing audit/accounts department with potential to progress within the firm in future. Full on the job training to be given and support provided throughout your professional accountancy studies.

The role will be mixed between audit and accounts. It will principally offer the candidate experience in our audit department, assisting with audit testing largely undertaken onsite at client's premises. All audit work will be undertaken on our electronic software and the candidate will work as part of a team and be overseen by senior members of staff who will train, review and provide feedback.

Key audit responsibilities:

  • Obtaining an understanding of client financial systems and key controls in order to be able to test their effective operation for audit purposes
  • Writing up audit testing in a clear and concise manner, summarising objectives, expectations, work done, results and conclusions
  • Identifying areas of weakness within client financial systems and suggesting recommendations for improvement

Accounts knowledge will underpin this role and opportunities will be provided to learn and enhance these underlying skills. This will potentially include summarising client records on excel (or working with electronic client records) before posting onto our accounts production software.

Full on the job training to be given on all aspects of the role.

Access to a vehicle would be preferable but not essential in the short term.

All AAT and ACA/ACCA studies are supported by the firm.

As an Accountancy Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship at Level 3. Within the apprenticeship you will undertake two AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping modules and the full AAT Level 3 qualification.

The apprenticeship will be completed at a BPP centre or via the Online Classroom platform, in addition to at the workplace.
