Day to day duties include:
  • You will be expected to assist and support young people to clean and maintain their living environment to a high standard
  • Have an understanding and respect for the diverse needs of each young person. All young people to be treat fairly and consistently
  • Establish and maintain clear and professional boundaries at all times
  • All direct support will be focused upon meeting the outcomes identified in the young person's placement plan
  • Update and maintain records after each contact with a young person
  • You may be expected to attend meetings with the project managers and Service Manager to feedback on a young person's progress
  • Be aware of and raise any Safeguarding issues/risks that may arise
  • Work with young person's social worker, PA and any other Agencies working with and supporting them
  • Identify and facilitate positive physical activities
  • Support and facilitate the young people to access health, education, preparation for work courses and support them with any other appointments they may have

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Ability to use ICT and have a basic level of literacy and numeracy
  • Participate in supervision, training and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge and skills
  • Work directly with young people in accordance with agreed individual programmes and strategies of support

Personal qualities

  • Support young people by showing awareness of their individual interests and preferences, by introducing them to a range of different experiences and enabling them to make informed choices wherever possible
  • Support young people to gain the maximum benefit from education and all other opportunities open to them
  • Comply with the requirements of all Youth Hubz policies, procedures and staff instructions, including responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy and Procedures

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE maths & English Grade C / 4 or above is preferable but not a necessity
  • Previous experience or qualifications in Health & Social Care or Residential Childcare is preferable but not a necessity

Future prospects

  • As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidate will be expected to complete an application form
  • On completion of the 14 month training program, depending on performance and availability, you may offered a full time role with opportunities for training to a higher level and career progression

Things to consider

  • This role facilitates the Leeds and Bradford area of West Yorkshire. Candidates must be flexible and available to work every day of the week
  • The normal working week schedule is either Monday to Friday with the weekend off or 4 weekdays with 1 day weekend work (with 1 day off on a week day and 1 day off at the weekend)
