Desired qualifications
For this standard 4/C in Maths and English or above or equivalent is desirable, however all applicants will be considered on merit subject to initial assessment against the requirements of the standard.
Essential to have completed a Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship or related subject area.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel essential.
Willingness to learn is key.
Future prospects
Transition into a Pre-production engineering role.
Things to consider
This role requires the candidate to leave site to visit other facilities such as CPS's Head Office in Basingstoke.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

- Understanding, creating, and editing Bill of Materials structures
- Setting up and maintaining parts and Bill of Materials within an MRP system
- Maintaining the Production Planner Tool system
- Working with an ECR / ECN system (change request / change note)
- Communication of ECN with outsource manufacturing partner
- Investigating & communicating resolutions of issues between outsource manufacturer & the design team.
- Supporting the Spares organisation with spares lists & spared item levels
- Supporting Purchasing with supplier selection for legacy spares
- To improve upon IT skills and gain a better understanding of the IT systems to work efficiently and effectively
Prototype Build:
- Gain an understanding of reading Technical drawings
- Become capable of being able to follow a written work instruction, raising issues when incorrect or even suggestions to improve the build
- Manufacture of simple components and rework of machines to support engineering development
- Liaising with part suppliers for the supply of prototype parts and dealing with issues that need resolving
- Utilising skills for customer Special Projects, including sourcing & manufacturing parts, testing to CPS standard & related documentation
Product Testing:
- Learning how to follow test procedures to test CPS products
- Being able to identify more efficient ways of testing modules and setting upon the correctprocess to suggest, update and test procedure
- Learning how to setup and test products that are used in Demos
- Gain knowledge of CPS software and how to use with CPS products
- Learning to understand the needs of our customers
- Assisting in Product Demonstrations
- Gain knowledge of how customers integrate CPS products into their systems
- Assisting Engineering and Service Team with fault finding products
- Gain knowledge of how customers integrate CPS products into their systems
- Assisting the Sales Team on product knowledge
Manufacturing Engineering:
- Gain an understanding of how production as a whole works along with the processes, procedures, and IT systems
- Problem solving test setups / fixtures when they arenot working
- Creating / maintaining build instructions for assembled product
