Working as a Data Scientist Apprentice, you will receive on the job training from our inhouse experts, combined with in personand online lectures at university. You will work towards a post graduate degree (apprenticeship level 7) funded by LTI.

You will be assigned a buddy, and mentors throughout the programme who will offer support and guidance to help you succeed in the short term.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop ML / NLP models for the project requirement
  • Deliver ownership to setup ML / NLP models with respect to tools, data and infrastructure asrequired
  • Work closely with Product Owner and Product architect right from ML based solutionconceptualization till implementation in response to a client requirement
  • Thought leadership on building ML/NLP based solution based on client requirements
  • Lead the ML / NLP dialogue during the customer visits and other partner events


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Strong knowledge of machine learning / NLP algorithms- Information extraction, named entity recognition, text clustering, text summarization, intent classification, word embeddings, vectorspace models; experience in developing models
  • Strong experience in NLP using Python experience in developing microservices and webservices
  • Understanding of data and data analysis; experience with large data sets
  • Thorough with pandas, scikit and numpy
  • Experience implementing and deploying machine learning and deep learning frameworks(Spark, TensorFlow, Keras, Caffe, etc.) through distribution cluster and applicationprogramming in cloud platforms including Azure, IBM, AWS and GCP
  • Hands on experience Data Science / Big Data technology and architecture

Desired qualifications

An honours degree (2:2 or above) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subject.

Equivalent professional qualifications and/or relevant work experience may also be considered. In this case the applicant will have to complete an interview with the application.

Plus GCSE or equivalent qualifications (Level 2) in English and maths (A*-C or 9-4). Before taking their end-point assessment, allapprentices on apprenticeships at level 3 and above must achieve Level 2 English and maths (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C or 4 -9).The apprentice can take these qualifications at the university while on the apprenticeship.

Future prospects

The possibility of a full-time post upon completing the apprenticeship.
