Trainee Urban Traffic Control Engineer

At Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) we design, operate and maintain the largest number of traffic signals outside London. With such a large number of signals in the conurbation there is opportunity to gain experience and utilise a huge range of traditional and innovative solutions to help make travel easier and ensure people and goods can get to where they need to be in a timely and reliable manner.
We are seeking a Trainee Urban Traffic Control Engineer to complete a five-year degree apprenticeship, during which you will be working within our design, delivery and operations teams, gaining valuable experience across the organisation. You will be provided with ongoing support from the team whilst you work from home due to the current situation. In addition, you will study with the University of Bolton to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering completing a blend of both online and on campus learning. You will have the following qualifications to allow entry on the BEng Civil Engineering degree course:
- 104 UCAS points
- 3 A levels at grade BCC or above - subjects must include Mathematics and at least one science subject or equivalent levels of qualifications e.g. a BTEC qualification
- Five GCSE’s at grade C or above or grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent) including English, Mathematics and Science
In line with the apprenticeship guidelines, to be eligible for this apprenticeship any previous qualifications you have cannot be similar or the same to the qualification you would achieve from this apprenticeship.
You will be keen and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and have the ability to engage with people at all levels and work within a team you will also be highly motivated, reliable and proactive with the ability to manage your responsibilities for both work and study. It is anticipated that you will enrol onto the degree apprenticeship in January 2021.
