What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include to support in:
  • Project management - preparing business cases, scoping objectives, developing project plans, scheduling, reviews, monitoring, evaluation & lessons learnt
  • Manage risk - identify & prioritise threats, opportunities, mitigate & minimise impacts & optimise benefits
  • Communicate with the public & stakeholders
  • Contract manage & procure
  • Project budgets & finance processes
  • Produce information
  • General duties: records up to date, data input, minute meetings

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • You will attend a local training provider, usually on day release, to gain a Level 4 qualification in project management
  • Attend an Apprentice Induction
  • Gain a health & safety qualification
  • Attend enrichment activities to enhance your knowledge eg interview techniques, health & wellbeing, finance, disability awareness
  • Have the chance to attend marketing events and also take part in activities during National Apprenticeship Week


What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
  • Gain a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Project Management
  • 2 years work experience in the public sector
  • The Council has a high retention rate and so there is a chance to move onto full time employment.
