This role will work towards achieving an NVQ2 in Interior Systems (Fixing). You will work as part of a team on site, learning how to set out walls, build different wall types with different materials, read drawings, calculate material quantities and wastage, and understand fire safety in buildings. You will need to produce a good quality and quantity of work, communicate well with your colleagues and Managers, understand and maintain good health and safety practices, and be willing to get involved in everything that goes on for the site. You will need to move materials around, and will be exposed to other activities related to your role eg. the finishing, because this can be affected by the quality of the work that you produce. At the end of the 2 year Apprenticeship, you will be able to work as a Dryliner.
Ideally we would prefer you to have the equivalent of Grade 4 or above in English & Maths, although if you have not achieved this level, we will be able to help you with these essential skills. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, reliable, and willing to attend college 1 day a week during term time, since this will form part of the Apprenticeship. Any previous construction experience may be useful, but this is not essential.
