What will the apprentice be doing?

Within the role and this apprenticeship you'll develop the skills to

• Write for different audiences including for use by Ministers or in response to correspondence from MPs or members of the public
• Assess evidence, including consultation responses, and develop options for changing policy or legislation
• Instruct lawyers to draft legislation and take it through the Parliamentary process
• Monitor spend and corporate performance, assessing risks and issues and escalating for action by others

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The formal elements of the apprenticeship are provided through a blend of online learning and virtual classroom tuition and typically takes 24 months to complete.

In parallel with this you will also be learning on the job, and capturing evidence of how you have practically applied the skills and knowledge you have gained. This will form your 'Evidence Portfolio' which will be reviewed as part of the formal 'End Point Assessment' at the end of the apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This apprenticeship is offered within a permanent role and will take 24 months to complete. On completion of your apprenticeship you will have the equivalent of an HNC qualification and will have laid the foundations for an ongoing career in 'policy' within the civil service.
