As a Clinical Trials Apprentice, you will embark on a 5-year employment rotation at HMR whilst studying for a BSc (Hons) in Applied Bioscience with the University of Kent.
During your time at HMR, you'll learn a lot about early-phase clinical trials and will become part of a diverse team producing high-quality clinical data from varied clinical studies on behalf of our sponsors (pharmaceutical companies). You'll gain understanding of the long journey it takes new medicines to be approved. This is an excellent first step in the UK's exciting clinical trials industry.

The salary is £14,000, increasing to £24,000 over 5 years. Additional payments for overtime and unsocial hours.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades A*-C/9-5including English language, science and maths.
To have/be predicted to achieve a minimum of 96 UCAS points from your top 3 A-levels (or equivalent) not including general studies.
You must have an A-level (or equivalent) in a Biology grade C/4 or above.
Future prospects
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, candidates will be able to apply for further positions.
Things to consider
The apprentice must be able to demonstrate the required attitudes, behaviours and interpersonal skills associated with the professional workplace.
The apprentice must be willing to commit an amount of personal time to study.

- Year 2: Recruitment & Screening and Data Management
- Year 3: Ward (intermediate) rotation
- Year 4: Ward (advanced), quality assurance (QA) and monitoring rotations
- Year 5: Project management assistance and data management
We'll provide full training for each role and you'll receive support from your dedicated mentor and our in-house training team. You'll gain skills and knowledge in a variety of areas including:
- Recording clinical trial data from healthy volunteers
- Collection and processing of biological samples
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and key regulations
- Trial master file (TMF) preparation and maintenance
- Quality control (QC) of the case report form (CRF)
- Basic/immediate life support training
- Championing clinical trials from start to finish
