You will have the opportunity to learn from an excellent team and with direct practical experience. You will learn about health and safety,shipping and tracking of materials, how to maintain efficient stock levels and other activities that will contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory.

Prior experience is not necessary but a willingness to act as part of a team and the ability to take initiative are essential.

Specific responsibilities may include:
  • Be part of the Production team supporting delivery of GMP manufacturing batches for clinical studies
  • Be able to understand and follow SOPs to perform key GMP operations such as transfer of materials into and out of the modules, equipment and material cleaning, environmental monitoring, daily housekeeping, waste transfer etc. to support manufacture
  • To work effectively with Catapult warehouse team and Catapult Scheduler to perform the effective transfer of materials/samples/waste into and out of the grade C cleanroom as required by the daily manufacturing plan and daily bill of materials (BOM)
  • Ability to identify issues as they occur and report accordingly with all relevant information
  • To support Production team in deviations and investigations as required
  • To support Production manager in the scheduling, booking and managing service visits for equipment such as planned equipment maintenance
  • To liaise closely with Freeline Supply chain team to ensure materials are delivered on time to the CGT-MC and are released and ready for use in GMP manufacture
  • To be responsible for ensuring daily BOMs during manufacture are accurate and transferred into module on-time through working closely with Production and Supply Chain teams
  • To support production manager by informing Catapult scheduler of activities such as biological material transfer, waste removal, equipment movement, visiting contractors, out-of-hours support etc.
  • To be responsible for ensuring items such as PPE, cleaning agents, waste bins etc. are kept stocked during manufacture

Desired qualifications

  • You should possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent grades A-C (8-4) including Science, maths and English
  • For entry to the Technician Scientist (Level 5) apprenticeship you must have a total of 80 UCAS points including a B in A-Level Biology or equivalent qualification.Alternative experience and qualifications will be considered

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, candidates will be able to apply for further positions.
