What will the apprentice be doing?
Working closely with the team of clinical research Nurses and Midwives.
Providing protocol driven research care to patients.
Carrying out clinical assessments.
Data collection and entry.
Basic laboratory work and research governance and administration.
Promoting research within Trust Departments.
Supporting colleagues and local investigators to deliever high quality research.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The Apprenticeship degree is fully funded and travel and accommodation expenses will be paid during University attendance. Study time at the University of Kent amounts to 3 weeks per academic year, split in to 1 week block release episodes. The remainder of the year will be spent training in the department with a minimum of 20% protected learning time per week for online lectures and personal study.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
As an apprentice you will have the opportunity to rotate through all areas of the department across three years of training in order to develop a broad range of skills. Upon successful completion of the Degree course, you will be invited to apply for a substantive Band 5 Clinical Research Practitoner post within Clinical Research at St Richards Hospital, enabling you to further your career as a newly qualified Practitioner.
