Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost within High Value Manufacturing environments.
This requires the application of a complex blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.
The main responsibilities of an Engineering Maintenance Technician are:

  • To produce components from engineering drawings using hand tools, drills, folding machines, guillotines and other equipment for the assembly and fabrication of aircraft galley equipment
  • To follow strict regulatory procedures and guidelines to meet with productions timescales and to offer support and assistance as and when needed to ensure workflow is operating in line with productions priorities
  • Working with flat metal to low tolerances with precision engineering on shaping and cutting
  • Moulding and shaping including small presses, roller machines and hammers.
  • Product assembly through welding, bolting or riveting
  • Producing finishing through use of grinding and polishing
  • Completion of recordings for production and accountability ensuring accuracy and consistency at all times

  • Cable cutting to length, wire identification, stripping and termination of wires by crimping or soldering. Creating wiring loom and fitting wires to equipment performing necessary safety and functional tests
  • Location, placement and soldering of components on small Printed Circuit Boards (PCB's)
  • Fault finding and rectification
  • Machine wiring from electrical drawings and kit of manufactured parts
  • Final electrical checks and testing before power supply
  • Documentation of actions through production and quality logs
  • Maintain continuity by documenting and communicating actions and irregularities and continuing needs

Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and to identify and improve process work where possible. Meticulous with attention to detail with work carried out with excellence and punctuality. Possesses excellent conceptual skills, process improvements written and verbal communication. Excellent functional and technical skills along with controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, coordination, inventory control and judgement. Positive and mature attitude with understanding that due to the nature of industry strict highly regulated guidelines must be adhered to at all times. Ability to work under pressure and timescale's and company standards and expectations. Confidence to share feedback to supervisors and senior employees and raise question when in doubt. Ambitious to learn and develop and support new company projects.

Personal qualities

Must possess an interest in Engineering
Good timekeeping and attendance

Desired qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above including English &maths
  • Science and Technology is desirable. Other equivalent qualifications are acceptable

Future prospects

  • Good prospects to progress with ongoing training and assistance to gain recognised qualifications within the aerospace industry
  • Opportunity to move into Research and Development of new projects and designs
