What will the apprentice be doing?
The role of data analyst apprentice will be wide and varied and there will be a rotation around different parts of the health intelligence system, hosted by PHE's Local Knowledge and Intelligence Service. You will be analysing data and intelligence from various sources, working closely with PHE and its regional and local partners to inform strategies around health protection, health improvement, and tackling health inequalities with a particular focus on the COVID-19 pandemic.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be working towards a Level 7 Masters in Digital Technologies Solution Professional (Analytics pathway), delivered by our provider AvadoLearning in partnership with the University of Buckinghamshire. The majority of your training will be delivered online under current COVID-19 guidelines. There may be some attendance at class based activity when it is deemed safe to do so and this will be on a block release basis. Training takes place over a 36 months period.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
After completion of this apprenticeship you will be able to apply for roles either within the organisation or across the wider Civil Service. Surveillance and Analysis are currently in wide demand across all sectors of the workforce both in the public and private sector.
Public Health England and the data analytics function is expected to transition into its successor organisation the National Institute for Health Protection in the spring of 2021.
