What will the apprentice be doing?

The apprenticeship will contain the following topics and learning:-
  • about the construction process, contracts and quality standards
  • how to analyse client requirements and develop detailed designs
  • risk assessment of design solutions
  • the importance of behaviours in safety-critical environments
  • about sustainability across economic, social and environmental aspects
  • about cost control on a construction project

This is an office and construction site based position.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

On site training will take place mainly on a new Project in Slough. With Day release to London Southbank University to study level 4 "Construction and Built Environment", which is a BTEC Level 4 as part of this apprenticeship standard, equivalent to an HNC.

Some project work will be involved in perparation for your final end point assessment in year 3. This end point assessment when passed wil allow you to apply for Chartered Engeering Membership

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once qualified you could progress onto other routes such as Project Management, Architecture Design, Technical Support or continue to progress to degree level in Construction Design and Build via a level 5 and level 6 qualification.

The apprenticeship completion will allow you to apply for professionally recognised memberships of construction related organisations. Chartered status etc
