University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching Trusts in the UK with sites in both Coventry and Rugby and rated as GOOD by the Care Quality Commission (CGC).

We are committed to delivering world class service and have established and embedded the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System in partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle focusing on putting the patient first through the use of lean management systems and methodologies. We are linked to the top class universities of both Warwick and Coventry.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, we are looking to recruit a Senior BMS Section Lead to support the Virology & Molecular Pathology (VAMP) service. The department provides viral serology and multidisciplinary molecular investigations to support 4 acute hospitals, 9 clinical commissioning groups and over 250 GP practices.

Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service (CWPS) is an established network, currently in the process of developing a blood sciences 'hub and spoke' model of care. VAMP is part of this transformation and as such, staff may need to rotate across sites and will be required to participate in the 24/7 service. Working with our university partnerships, we have been fortunate to create a specific Covid 19 testing facility at the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW) site. Specialist molecular testing will also primarily be located at UHCW; whilst routine serology will be based on the hub site at George Eliot Hospital. Following a successful tender process, equipment will be updated on each of the sites within the next 12 months. We offer the opportunity to participate in the ongoing transformation of the service and encourage staff to bring forward ideas for improvement.

Successful candidates will be quality focused, have experience of managing staff and operational workflow and be innovative in their approach to help promote and progress CWPS services. They must be adaptive to the ongoing changes and be wiling to work flexibly within a demanding, yet rewarding environment.
