The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) provides Acute and Community services across Exeter and East Devon serving a population of more than 450,000 people. In our latest CQC full inspection of our services, the RD&E received an overall rating of "good". We were rated as "outstanding" for our Emergency and Critical Care services, and for Caring Trustwide.

The main hospital site is in the historical Cathedral city of Exeter that has abundant family amenities and beautiful surrounding countryside. It is situated in the middle of the South West Region with easy access to the countryside and coast of Devon and Cornwall. It is well served by rail, road and air links. The General Portering department at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Wonford requires a motivated person to join its high performing team. The role requires regular 12 hr shifts, including nights weekends and bank holidays for which allowances will be paid. The position reports into a member of the Portering Leadership Team. The sucessful candidate will
  • Transport patients (including the deceased), bloods, and items of clinical and non-clincial equipment.
  • Contribute to effective staff communication including sharing of own insight into the role in line with Portering's policy of continuous improvement
  • Adhere to all Trust policies including those relating to Health & Safety
  • Demonstrate the ability to work quickly and calmly in emergencies
  • Treat all others with empathy, kindness and patience
  • Place a high value on reliability, dependability and be service orientated
