This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the development of a completely new clinical service for adults experiencing complex PTSD. This is a newly commissioned service in Northamptonshire in recognition of an unmet clinical need in local pathways, especially between IAPT and secondary mental health services. The complex PTSD service will both deliver specialist clinical interventions, and also promote trauma-informed approaches in the wider service and across mental health pathways. In the early phases of the service, it is planned that the service will focus on supporting both the workforce and the wider population in coping with and recovering from COVID-19.

We are looking for suitably qualified clinicians - ideally with some specialist clinical experience in the field of complex trauma, as well as experience in working with complex clinical presentations in Adult Mental Health. Equally important is the ability to develop innovative practice and play a lead role in a completely new service. You would need to contribute to the vision for this new service, work closely with partners in primary and secondary care. This will require you to exercise collaborative leadership skills within the Team and to promote the service externally. We are looking for an innovative and resilient clinician with evidenced training who can operate with confidence and credibility to play a key role in developing this new service. Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence and negotiate successfully are essential. You will contribute to developing and monitoring the clinical outcomes and impact of the service and will have a flexible approach to changing patterns of service delivery as needed.

Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust was rated as "Outstanding" by CQC in 2018 and is a great place to work. We are proud of the Psychology provision within the Trust, and feedback has consistently been that we have a well-developed Psychology network in the Trust which offers a strong sense of professional identity, support and strategic influence. Psychology and psychological approaches are highly valued in the Trust, and Psychologists have the opportunity to shape clinical and organisational strategy as well as provide clinical services. We believe that supporting and involving our staff means that they enjoy their work more, and that our clinical services are better as a result.

The successful applicant(s) would receive professional support and be professionally and clinically accountable to and managed by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist Service Lead for the Complex PTSD service.

There are a significant number of psychologists employed within the Trust working across different specialties and there are excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. The Trust enjoys good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses.

We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds who are under-represented in service delivery.

We will welcome applications from newly/recently qualified psychologist for Band 7 post and there are also good opportunities for people wishing to work part-time or across a couple of different specialties in the Trust.

Northamptonshire is a pleasant area with a mix of rural and urban locations and is within easy distance of other key locations in the Midlands with excellent rail and road links.

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to several prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire etc.

It is our vision to be a leading provider of outstanding, compassionate care. Our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection recognised this with an 'Outstanding' rating overall, as well as an 'Outstanding' rating for the Caring domain. Applicants will need to demonstrate a commitment to delivering outstanding compassionate care and also commit to the Trust mission statement: Making a difference for you, with you. Our vision, mission and values are all part of the roadmap for all we do

Don't just take our word for it: In 2018, 72.2% of our staff recommended NHFT as a place to work, the highest score for trusts of our type. We were also honoured to win the Health Service Journal's coveted Trust of the Year award the same year.
