The pre-registration student support team at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital are seeking a highly motivated and proactive nurse to join their team for a 12 month fixed term period.

As the Placement Education Facilitator your primary role will be to facilitate direct and indirect coaching, guidance and pastoral care for all pre-registration students across the organisation.

You will work primarily on the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital sites as part of a wider student support team to enable and protect the provision of high quality multi-professional, pre-registration education.

Running in parallel to the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Standards of Student Supervision and Assessment (2018) and the Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses (2018), you will safeguard and promote learning experiences to produce a high standard of qualified professionals at the point of registration. You will have a strong working knowledge of the RePAIR Project and be able to implement the recommendations into student placements and learning experiences.

You will support the Learning Development Facilitator in the promotion and delivery of Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor training, and provide advice and guidance with clinical assessments in practice. A key facet of your role is to be a point of contact for student concerns and difficulties, to provide wellbeing care, and signpost students to other support services.

You will be a focal point of communication with local universities, colleges, and Health Education England, and act as an advocate for students, particularly those with additional learning needs or reasonable adjustments. You will work with small and large groups of students to develop their clinical skills and professionalism, providing face-to-face and virtual training, seminars, and shadow working. You will act as a Super Practice Assessor for student nurses and nurse associates on clinical placement, to enable effective and timely documentation in their practice assessment portfolio, and work with those struggling to meet their competencies.

We are looking for an individual who has strong experience working with students and is capable of triaging and managing concerns that have been escalated to the Learning Environment Team. The ideal candidate will have a background in teaching and/or practice education, and is able to develop and facilitate programmes of learning in response to demand. You will also have a good working knowledge of the CLiP model and an awareness of the diverse routes into clinical practice including apprenticeships.

You will have an exceptional standard of written and verbal communication, and be fully IT literate. You will be expected to manage and prioritise your workload, maintain effective documentation and team handovers, and work in partnership with the wider Education and Training team across the University Hospitals Dorset organisation.

Interviews will take place either face-to-face or on Microsoft Teams (COVID-19 restrictions dependant). You will be asked to deliver a short presentation of no more than 10 minutes entitled: How can effective pre-registration student support reduce attrition
