Salary: £31,365 - £37,890 per annum/pro rata

We are recruiting for a Clinical Sister / Charge Nurse who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

The successful post holder will be expected to promote best practice for patients attending the Emergency Department experiencing time critical conditions, traumatic injuries and an extensive variety of undiagnosed and undifferentiated clinical conditions

As a Clinical Sister/ Charge Nurse you will provide clinical and professional leadership, supervision and support to patient, nursing staff and students within the SMART team. You will triage, assess, plan and implement the care of patients who are discharged home under the care of the SMART service in the community.

The SMART Service is nurse led, therefore the ability to work autonomously as well as effectively within a team is essential. The work will include visiting patient in the community therefore it is essential that you have a full driving license and a car.

Members of SMART work autonomously, therefore we are looking for someone with excellent evidence based experience in the care of acute patients. Specific training will be provided to facilitate the pathways covered by SMART in the community. Confidence, good communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions is also vital.

The Clinical Sister / Charge Nurse must also be able to liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe effective and timely care practices within the SMART service.

In addition, will be expected to care for OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy), post-operative patients with a specialist need and medical patients who require specific support following admission. Full support and training will be provided to be able to support these patients safely.

As a SMART nurse teaching, auditing, infection control practices and undergoing research are activities undertaken within the role.

To apply you should be working in an acute sphere of practice and have current experience of administering IV therapies, competent in cannulation, venepuncture, general and complex surgical wound care, drain care and assessing acute on chronic complex medical patients who require O2 or nebulisers on discharge for a short period. The service prides itself of being innovative, so an added vast expertise is welcomed. We are always very keen to expand the service further so any new ideas are welcomed.
