Principal accountabilities:
  • Under guidance, you will be responsible for the development and testing of applications to agreed standards and best practice
  • You will be responsible for working against a set of user stories for both development and testingand reporting progress against this
  • You will be required to participate in stand-ups, scrum meetings, report progress and work with the scrum teams
  • Complete assigned tasks to committed estimates and report on exceptions to planned events
  • Develop domain knowledge over time
  • Understand own role within the team and operate as an effective and reliable team member
  • To be fair, consistent and open with feedback
  • Undertake a course of studies and develop a broad range of skills within the requirements of the service to achieve a nationally recognised Level 4 apprenticeship framework/standard
  • To maintain regular contact with the appointed Support Advisor during the period of the apprenticeship

Personal qualities

  • Eligible for funding to undertake this apprenticeship, including ability to meet the entry requirements of the level 4 course attached to this apprenticeship and to attend and undertake the studying and coursework required to complete the course
  • Exposure to client side technologies like HTML, Java Script, CSS
  • An understanding of scoping, planning and delivering projects using iterative software development lifecycles over multiple release cycles
  • Working understanding of the software development lifecycle and how technology fits into it
  • Can identify and understand the (internal and/or external) customer's needs and strives to provide a world-class service
  • Remain focused on results at all times and makes repeated efforts that ensure objectives are achieved despite setback, blockages or distractions
  • Actively participate in your own development plan under the supervision of your line manager and the training provider
  • In line with our policy, ensure the principle of treating customers fairly is an intrinsic part of the organisation's culture, by identifying & highlighting any risks within the business
  • Work with the development manager/scrum team in supporting departmental initiatives/capability improvements
  • Under supervision, work closely with other team members to assist in team objectives
  • To support and enhance the reputation of IT within the business
  • To develop a healthy working relationship within key IS departmental teams and provide a safe environment for challenge and debate


Desired qualifications

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade A-C (8-4) including English Language and maths or equivalent
  • Level 3 BTEC in relevant subject or A Levels in relevant subject area
