Apprentice mechanical engineer, you will be joining a maintenance team of fully qualified and experienced mechanical and electrical engineers. Maintaining the plant with routine maintenance, machining tooling and in house project work from design to manufacture before specialising in one area towards the end of the apprenticeship. The engineering is industrial biased.

Daily duties will involve working alongside a skilled team member to learn the craft of being a mechanical engineer as well as spending some time with an electrical engineer to gain basic skills in electrical include safety, safe isolations and basic electrical testing and fault finding. This will go hand in hand with the college training and studies.

The duties of the mechanical engineer includes milling, turning, general machining and welding along with maintenance and servicing of all equipment. Day to day contact willbe with an assigned engineer and employees on the shop floor.

Desired qualifications

Candidates will typically have 4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English and a Science.

Future prospects

After successful completion of the apprenticeship it would be envisaged that a suitable position within the company would be offered. There are various departments including engineering department that a suitable vacancy could be offered.
