Could you deliver an outstanding experience for every patient? We are one of the best emergency departments in the country (CQC ED patient survey) and we are recruiting motivated and dynamic band 5 staff nurses. We have a committed nursing and medical team providing care in a bright, modern and spacious environment.

We work closely with the ambulance service and specialist teams both within the hospital and in the community to ensure that we provide the right care, at the right time, so if you have a passion for nursing and have at least 1 years post registration experience in an acute setting we want to hear form you!

We are an integrated paediatric department. If you are a Registered Sick Childrens nurse with 1 years post registration experience we would also welcome you to apply. Any successful applicant must be prepared to work with adults as well as children and complete adult competencies.

We offer a two week supernumerary training programme covering all areas of the department and a developmental programme during the first 12 months tailored to your experience which includes triage, conflict resolution, level 3 safeguarding, venepuncture and cannulation, mentor team days, CBRN / major incident training, application of PoP casts and resuscitation competencies. We also support training courses such as ALS and EPALS.

Whilst we serve a mostly rural population we are also a designated Trauma unit and have a track record in handling major incidents successfully which offers a varied and challenging patient workload and the number of attendances is growing. We currently see approximately 50,000 patients per year.

We can offer a variety of working opportunities including full or part time covering 24hr shift patterns which are family friendly (evenings, early/late etc) usually over 3-5 days / nights per week (hours dependant).

This is an excellent time to join our expanding team and become involved in developing new processes to meeting the changing demands of emergency care.

GETTING TO WORK

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.

If this job requires you to have DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment, you will be required to replay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed in installments from your salary. Many staff use the DBS update service at a cost of £13 per annum but you need to sign up for this via their website.
