Electrical and Electronics engineers in Jaguar Land Rover are involved in a number of roles. Roles include the development of custom-made components for our products, testing and validation of electronic systems, development of high voltage propulsion electronics, autonomous driving and more. As an Electrical and Electronics engineer you will learn a variety of different skills including electronics circuit design, power electronics, embedded safety critical system design, programming and a lot more.
To ensure the delivery of quality vehicles product compliance is high on our agenda. As an Apprentice in this area you will develop an understanding of the end to end process from regulations being issued through certification to conformity of production and investigations. You will gain experience in both the emissions and non-emissions elements of compliance and will work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the certification delivery plan is developed and maintained.
The Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) team is responsible for supplier quality across our vehicle portfolio. They interact with most part that goes into our cars, with the focus of delivering excellence. As an apprentice in this area you will have the opportunity to be involved in almost every aspect of one of our cars' life cycle. There are many stakeholders (including our suppliers) that collaborate to create our products, and you will gain exposure to many of these through structured placements.

The Applied Professional Engineering Apprenticeship (Level 6) is a four-year programme, where you earn whilst you learn.

During Year one and two, apprentices will spend their time in off the job training provided by the University of Warwick and also within the workplace.

In Year three and four you will study specialised subjects in line with your chosen pathway. Your final year of your apprenticeship will see you complete your end-point assessment and achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship, ready for an amazing career in a permanent role within Engineering.

Personal Skills for Professional Excellence, Engineering Mathematics, Mechanics and Energy Methods, Electrical and Electronic Systems 1, Applied Engineering Design + Technical Operations Management, Quality methods, Workshop Skills + DFM + MMP, Industrial Digitalisation, Engineering Systems, Dynamic Mechanics & Thermofluids, instrumentation & Control, Numerical Methods for Modelling, Project Management & Leadership and CAD/CAM.
Specialism Modules (Year 3 & 4)
Advanced Quality Techniques, Mechatronics & Systems Controls, Networking Infrastructure Communication and Interoperability of Systems, Electronics Design & Development Principles, Electrical & Electronic Systems, Sustainable Energy Systems, Materials for Advanced Applications, Functional Systems.

Following the successful completion of your Apprenticeship you could find yourself working in one of the following areas: Vehicle & Electrical Engineering, Powertrain, Product Engineering Operations, Quality or Supplier Technical Assistance.

Personal qualities

In addition to the academic requirements at the assessment stage we will also look for evidence of other qualifications, knowledge, experience or qualities - for example a third A-level or other further academic qualifications; a substantial time in employment or voluntary activity; a technical project or hobby or substantial responsibilities as a carer.

We will also be looking for you to demonstrate your passion for the role and explain your motivation for wanting to join our Applied Professional Engineer Programme as a degree apprentice.

Desired qualifications

GCSE maths and English Language at level 5 (C) or higher and in addition 3 additional GCSEs level 5 (C) or above to include one STEM subject or Engineering Vocational qualification level 3/ 90 credits/540 GLH or higher.

In addition A level maths at grade B or higher and a second A level at grade C or above in Physics; Chemistry; Engineering or Design & Technology.
