**14 month Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship **

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Apprenticeship Programme within the duration of the placement.

Kimberley ward is a 37 bedded ward specializing in Endocrine.

Endocrinology is an exciting, evidence based specialty that offers opportunities to learn and develop nursing practice within a supported structure. Our Endocrinologists have experience in the management of all Endocrine diseases from adrenal, pituitary disease and Diabetes.

We are currently seeking compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team with a passion for caring. You will be fully supported and provided with learning and training opportunities.

Individuals should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and possess a willingness to take on new challenges

Requirements:

Whilst previous experience of caring for acutely ill patients would be advantageous, we are also interested in hearing from individuals who have a special talent for being caring and compassionate and who would be able to go the extra mile to help our patients feel valued and cared for and at all times to treat them with dignity and respect.

As post holder, duties will include:
  • To work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework
  • To maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse
  • To provide high standards of patient care
  • To work in accordance with the principles laid down by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies

Hours of work:

12 hour shift pattern working days

Eligibility Criteria:

All applicants must be:
  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years
  • Must not have a qualification at the equivalent or above level in a similar subject (there needs to be significant new learning)
  • Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE's at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

UK Registration: You will need to have current UK professional registration where this is a requirement of the role.
