    Future prospects

The Step In Programme builds on our current schemes and aims to provide a route into employment for those who are just starting out in their careers or trying to get back into work. It gives employees a solid grounding in the world of work and the chance to learn fundamental business-related skills which will put them in good stead for the future. The key components of Step In are:

    • Apprentices complete apprenticeship qualifications relevant to the area of work
    • As well as support from the line manager and team, each individual employee on the programme will be part of a wider apprentice peer support group, facilitated by HR
    • Opportunities for the employee to undertake in-house training (courses or eLearning), in addition to their apprenticeship qualification, to further improve their skills and employability
    • There are no guarantees of employment at the end of the Step In Programme, but we would expect the apprentice to apply on to further employment, ideally within the Council or within the wider Devon economy
