We are looking for Healthcare Assistants to come and work at Salisbury District Hospital in a wide range of specialties in our Medical Division.

-Longford Ward (Spinal Injuries Unit)

-Acute Elderly Medicine

Hours are full (37.5 per week) or part time (minimum of 20 hours per week) covering long days (10/12 hour shift), earlies, lates and nights. Flexibility can be given around the number of shifts worked per week but not the length of shift or the ability to work across all shift patterns.

The minimum age for Healthcare Assistants here at the Trust is 18 years plus. Applicants would ideally have a minimum Level 2 OR C grade or equivalent in literacy and numeracy. If you don't have these, support will be provided to help attain them.

We know that working in a hospital setting could be different from anything that you have done before, so to support and develop you, we will provide you with a comprehensive trust induction

Mandatory training; and a bespoke Healthcare Assistant Induction programme.

If you have less than 6 months formal care experience you will receive support and training to complete your Care Certificate within the first 12 weeks of employment. You will also have access to further development opportunities, which include apprenticeships, internal development, clinical skills training and the ability to work towards a registered career in Nursing or Healthcare.

Our learning and development team can also provide you with individualised advice on future career options.

GETTING TO WORK

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.

OTHER INFORMATION

If this job requires you to have DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment, you will be required to replay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed in installments from your salary. Many staff use the DBS update service at a cost of £13 per annum but you need to sign up for this via their website.
