Cambridge University Hospitals has a proud history of medical research and has long been at the forefront of delivering pioneering treatments. The Trust has approximately 750 currently active studies with around 16,000 research participants.

The Finance team advise the Board of Directors on how to best support these research efforts. Amongst our tasks, we assist budget holders in their management of funds, we invoice study sponsors, review expenditure streams, and maintain strong relationships with an array of stakeholders.

We are delighted to offer an apprenticeship for a Finance Apprentice in our Research & Development Finance Team. You will be contributing to the successful performance of the R&D Finance Team, providing assistance and support to them in managing R&D accounts. You will be supported to develop your accounting and administrative abilities and gain relevant skills and experience to further your career in finance and accounting. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire and hone practical accounting skills in a professional environment alongside a formal qualification.

Come and join us and be supported to earn as you learn whilst undertaking a nationally recognised qualification. You will study for a Finance Accounting Apprenticeship (AAT Level2/3). You will need to have minimum GCSE Grade 4/C or Functional Skills Level 2 or above in Maths and English. You will be enthusiastic, have a positive work ethic, be keen to learn and able to work in a team. You will receive support to gain a wide range of experience and skills, supervision and mentoring.

The contract length is for 18 months and the apprenticeship salary on commencement is £10,924; after 12 months in post this will increase to the National Minimum Wage (depending upon your age). You will be supported to apply for permanent employment towards the end of your contract. We have a high percentage of previous apprentices who have successfully gained further employment with us with opportunities to gain higher qualifications.

There is no upper age limit on joining us as an apprentice.

Nb: Due to UK apprenticeship funding regulations applicants must have a right to work in the UK, have been an EU resident for the last three years or have indefinite leave to remain with documents that are not due to expire for the duration of the apprenticeship contract. Applicants must also not already have a qualification at a higher level within the same subject matter.
