An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to apply for role of a band 7 Ward Manager/Sister/Charge Nurse on an acute medical ward. This is an exciting time to join the team as we develop and implement service improvement initiatives as part of our Getting to Good campaign.

This is an exciting opportunity for a current Band 7 or a Band 6 keen to develop their skills within acute medicine alongside developing your ability in leadership and management to move this forward.

You will need to have excellent leadership skills and embrace the challenge of working in a highly demanding and diverse environment, whilst actively supporting and leading the nursing team in providing a high standard of care. Having energy and enthusiasm to drive forward the improvement initiatives is essential whilst engaging the whole MDT to challenge traditional models of care to continually improve the quality, safety and patient experiences.

The successful applicants must have a proven track record of progressive leadership and development and be able to demonstrate experience of at least a band 6 level. Hold (or be working towards) a relevant teaching qualification and able to demonstrate a commitment to safety and governance whilst being adaptable to change. Excellent communication skills with patients, relatives and staff is key to enabling this.

Strong leadership and performance management is an integral aspect of this role and you will be supported by a divisional Senior Nursing team including a Deputy Head of Nursing and Head of Nursing. Our commitment to you will be to provide you with a supportive and nurturing environment to ensure you have access to learning opportunities. We will work closely with our Education, Training and Development team in tailoring an individualised developmental pathway to meet your personal leadership needs as well as the functional skills necessary to succeed.
