We are recruiting to strengthen our response during the Coronavirus outbreak.

We are a provider for Mental health, intellectual disability and specialist mental health services, community physical health for adults and children, prison health and our low, medium and high secure hospitals including Rampton Hospital.

Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services (IDD) - Specialist Services.

We are looking to recruit a part time Band 5 Occupational Therapist

This position is to work across our community intellectual disability team (primarily across Gedling/Rushcliffe/Broxtowe) but part if a wider OT workforce across the whole of Nottinghamshire county and city. You will independently manage a caseload of adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs whom may present with behaviours that may challenge.
OT sessions are usually conducted in individuals homes, day centres, work places, residential care, group homes, supported living homes and respite care. Therefore, you will need to be able to travel across a large geographical area. In response to the COVID pandemic alternative ways of working in the community are being delivered i.e. video consultations, telephone appointments and face to face appointments where deemed clinically required.

As an interim response to COVID community services are operating via a single point of access (SPA). The ability to work flexibly is required. The community SPA is currently operational between 0900-1700 Mon-Fri. As we move towards restoration of community services, these working times may potentially alter.

You need to be committed and passionate about promoting health, well-being and independence for patients. We are a values-based Trust and are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic clinicians who believe in the provision of person-centred care.

This post will allow you the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist interventions to adults referred to the community intellectual disability team services. The multidisciplinary team includes Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology and Assistant Practitioners.

The OT service in IDD consists of Band 5 and 6 OT's and Technical Instructors who cover the whole county and city of Nottinghamshire. We regularly meet together with our OT colleagues across IDD/CAMHS/Forensic services.

The team works closely with other key organisations to support with improving health and well-being of our population group, improving quality of life, minimising risk of placement breakdown and minimising risk of hospital admission. We additionally work closely with our inpatient colleagues to support safe transfers of care back into the community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist who is competent to work autonomously and at times in professional isolation. You should be eager to consolidate existing skills and develop broader experience within the area of intellectual disabilities and mental health.

Shadowing with experienced therapists and regular supervision - both from OT Professional Lead and peers is provided.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
