There has never been a better time to join our Trust than now! We run three busy hospital sites at Peterborough, Huntingdon and Stamford and provide outpatient services in two community hospitals in Ely and Doddington. Our 6,000 staff serve a growing population of 750,000 across North Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

Are you patient focussed, with a keen interest/experience in a scientific environment? Would you like to join our team to deliver our new rapid COVID-19 testing service at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital, to ensure timely treatment and a safe environment for our patients and staff?

Applications for fixed term positions to the end of March 2021 are invited from motivated and energetic individuals to work alongside our point of care testing (POCT) and microbiology laboratory teams at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. NWAFT is a busy acute hospital Trust covering 3 hospital sites in the East of England.

Full training will be provided in the operation of state-of-the-art diagnostic analyser systems within a disciplined, scientific environment. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate an organised, systematic approach to complex tasks that require extended periods of concentration and attention to detail. You will be required to participate in a 24/7 shift system to provide front line clinical staff with this essential diagnostic service.

Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous, but not essential. Experience of working to microbiological aseptic technique and using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays would be desirable. In addition to carrying out vital analytical procedures, team members will also require excellent IT and communication skills, and will be responsible for equipment maintenance, reagent management and system troubleshooting. The ability to work under pressure, either alone or as part of a team, is an essential part of this exciting and challenging role.
