Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which will commence in 2021

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiatic, organised qualified and expereinced nursery nurse who can work on their initiative to join our School Nursing Team.

The School Nursing service is part of the wider Children's Health services which provides Community based services for children and young people (aged 5-19 years). The School nursing service works with stakeholders across a number of settings and organisations to lead delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) to improve child health outcomes and ensure that families at risk are identified at the earliest opportunity.

The overarching aim of public health services for children (5-19) is to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of children and families. The School nursing service is a workforce of specialist community public health nurses who provide expert advice, support and interventions to families with children and Young People between 5-19 years, and help empower young people to make decisions that affect their future health and wellbeing. This service is led by school nurses and supported by a skill mix team. The service is central to delivering public health outcomes for children.

The Nursery Nurses will be part of skill mixed team of qualified School Nurses, Staff Nurses, Nursery Nurse, Clinical Support Workers, administrative staff and apprentices.

You will be an effective member of the school nursing service and will support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) 5-19. You will deliver packages of care in a variety of community settings, which include child health clinic, home, early year's settings and children's centres. Ypu will deliver parenting groups, children resilience groups, parent workshops on a variety of topics, work with nursing staff to assess children's health and wellbeing and support delivery of health education sessions in schools and other settings
