Bolton NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 2008 and, in 2011, we became an integrated provider with community health services joining the trust. Covering a catchment area that also incorporates parts of Bury, Wigan and Salford, we deliver hospital and community based services from the Royal Bolton Hospital in Farnworth and from 20 health centres across Bolton, to a catchment population of 320,000 people. Apprentice Health Care Assistant

SHINE Sexual Health Services

37.5 hrs including 1 day study leave.

This is a great opportunity to start your career in the NHS by working as an apprentice health care assistant in our sexual health service. We are proud of the fact that our apprentice health care assistants over the past years have gone on to successfully obtain permanent jobs in healthcare or begin their nurse training. You will gain valuable experience at a leading NHS Trust and achieve a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification in Healthcare support work.

We are looking for an individual aged 17 years and above with a good standard of education, with English and Maths GCSE at grade A-C. Having excellent communication and IT skills you will have a confidence to communicate at all levels as you will be working with a wide variety of staff and patients.

You will be based in the SHINE Sexual Health service at the Lance Burn Health Centre Salford. You will be involved with the provision of front line care and clerical support to patients working with the clinical and administration staff in the service.

We are able to offer a fixed term contract for a period of 12 to 18 months dependent on the level of qualification being undertaken and you will complete the apprenticeship qualification within this time period with a local learning provider. During this time you will have enjoy the full benefits of working for the NHS. This apprenticeship is suitable for progression to roles such as health care assistant, trainee assistant practitioner , student nurse and may ultimately lead to a successful career in the NHS. We can support you with your ongoing progression.

We provide sexual health services (sexual, reproductive and HIV) for people in Salford and Bolton in a number of community centres and clinics throughout these areas.

The Trust is rated "Good" by the Care Quality Commission and has an excellent reputation for the provision of sexual health services for both adults and young people.

We deliver over 6,000 babies and carry around 1500 gynaecological procedures each year, making us a specialist provider of health services for women, babies and their families in the North West Sector of Manchester and beyond.

In accordance with eligibility criteria for government funded apprenticeship schemes applicants must be aged 17 or over for these posts and have been resident in the UK / EU for the last 3 years. Applicants must not have a degree, level 4 qualification or above or already be in any form of formal government funded education.
