Keech Hospice Care and Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust have partnered together to recruit a consultant in palliative medicine to lead the wider specialist palliative care multi-disciplinary team ensuring patients receive responsive and effective management of their palliative condition wherever they are within Luton's community.

Based at Keech Hospice Care, the successful applicant will work with the existing team of specialty doctors within adult services, providing clinical leadership.

They will work with CCS specialist palliative care team and local GPs in Luton to assess, plan and manage the care for palliative patients. In addition to this there is an opportunity to be part of the system wide work in Luton building on the previous work undertaken to identify and embed new ways of working to support the frail population of Luton.

Luton is a culturally diverse community, providing an exciting opportunity for the right applicant to provide culturally sensitive care, being innovative and leading system change.

The ability to work across the system to influence policy and patient experience is vital, including the collaborative working with BLMK STP colleagues to ensure best practice, offering education and training to a wide range of professionals. Keech Hospice Care and the Trust will provide support to the successful applicant to develop their leadership, education and management skills.

This exciting opportunity is for applicants who hold a full GMC registration and who are on the GMC specialist register for palliative medicine or willing to work towards this in the first 6 months in post. You will need to be enthusiastic, have a caring manner and a willingness to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
