MI5, MI6 and GCHQ
Trainee Finance Officer Scheme
London: £25,596
Cheltenham: £23,151

Don’t just become a skilled Finance professional. Help to protect the nation.

At MI5, MI6 and GCHQ, we work against serious threats like cyber-attacks, terrorism and espionage. But we can only achieve our mission with the support of our finance departments. They’re right at the heart of every agency, ensuring resources are effectively managed to deliver operations. When you join our Trainee Finance Officer Scheme, you’ll help us to do just that. It’s a unique chance to develop your skills while protecting the country.

Over three years, you’ll study for an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification while taking on several different roles. But you won’t do it alone. With a network of other trainees, a dedicated buddy and a qualified mentor who’s been through the scheme, you’ll have great support from day one. When you’re not working at the agencies, you’ll spend one day a week at college with the other trainees.

We’ll help you get to grips with exactly what we do, so you’ll gain some really valuable insights. You’ll have hands on experience of both finance operations and developing your analytical skills. And on successful completion of the scheme, you may also be able to study to become a Certified Chartered Accountant.

To join, you’ll need to be enthuasiastic, motivated and have a genuine passion for finance. We’ll also expect you to have GCSE’s in English and Maths at A* - C/4 - 9 (or equivalent). Ideally, you’ll be studying, (or have already studied), A-Levels in related subjects such as Economics, Business Studies or Maths. You might be looking to change careers or keen to learn without studying at university. Either way, you’ll need to have a head for figures, be confident when it comes to interpreting data and have experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel. As a great team player, you’ll enjoy working with others and succeeding together.

It’s time to discover your value.
